Ernest Hemingway

Ernest Hemingway, born in Oak Park, Illinois, to a doctor in 1899, dropped out of high school early and became a reporter for a local Kansas City newspaper. In 1921 he went to Europe. In the Spanish Civil War he took part on the Republican side and reported on the Second World War as a correspondent. In 1954 he received the Nobel Prize for Literature for his literary work. In 1961 he passed away voluntarily after a serious illness.
