Should a young girl wear high heels

That's how harmful high heels are to your feet

Aside from the nasty blisters we often get from high heels, there is much worse damage they can do to our feet and back. Due to the misalignment of the feet in the high heels, we automatically walk in an upright position, which leads to a hollow back through the pelvis pushed forward. Back pain is the result. As women get older, they even suffer from neck pain. Unfortunately, it doesn't stop there. The Achilles tendon can be so heavily stressed by the high shoes and thus lead to a shortening of the Achilles tendon. Incidentally, knee pain is included!

So if you opt for high heels, you should always carry a pair of shoes with you. No matter how old we are, after a few hours we are happy to get out of our high heels!

That's what the experts say

Christof Baum wrote the patent for ergonomic high heels together with his father, an orthopedic surgeon, and then founded his own label “Maison Baum”. In his past he worked as a shoe seller and was aware of the suffering in high heels. Mr. Baum had an idea: he would like to offer a painless yet beautiful classic high heel. We were allowed to ask the son, Christof Baum some questions and interesting answers came from around!

Mr. Baum, what is your position on the question: “When is a woman too old for high heels?”?

“As long as women feel elegant and sexy in them, women of any age can wear high heels - whether for a party night, company presentation or the wedding of their best friend. But it is important that the shoe is comfortable and fits well. This is the only way to prevent problems and have years of fun in high heels. "

Is there a "limit" when it comes to wearing high heels. Do you have a recommendation for how often high heels can be worn - for health reasons?

“High heels have proven to give the wearer a greater feeling of self-confidence and femininity and are particularly suitable for special occasions. If the shoe feels comfortable and can be worn with ease, high heels can also be worn every day. That has always been our goal when designing - the greatest possible comfort that women can combine for any occasion.

We all know it: We invest a lot of money in beautiful high heels and yet they are uncomfortable - why is that?

“On the one hand, this is due to the fact that executives in the fashion industry are mostly dominated by men who are perhaps less aware of the pain women suffer or who are not really interested in it. On the other hand, the search for a solution like ours is associated with great costs and uncertainties. Hardly any company in the fashion industry spends money on research and development. Nobody dares to spend less on marketing the basically same products and instead to invest in technologies for more comfort. "

Why is it so important to you that women can wear comfortable high heels without pain?

“I think life is an occasion - and you shouldn't have to constantly choose between style and comfort. My little sister has always suffered a lot in high heels - my father is an impressively brilliant orthopedist. I wanted to combine that and give women like her an option not only to look good, but also to feel good. "

Misalignments due to wrong shoe models

On the one hand we want beautiful shoes, on the other hand we also want to save money. But when it comes to health, you shouldn't be stingy! Because anyone who buys the wrong shoe models for little money will quickly find out how painful an evening in high heels can be. Numb toes, painful pads. The pain goes away after a few days, but in the long term it can have really nasty consequences for your feet! There are various misalignments such as claw toes, hammer toes or hallux valgus. With hallux valgus the bone of the big toe continues to move outwards - until it has to be surgically straightened.

The bunion, for example, also belongs to a deformity that is even hereditary and can affect both men and women. If you wear high heels that are too tight, you are doing yourself no favors.

If you wear high heels for work, you should always have a second pair of shoes ready. Fortunately, it is now established that women are no longer forced to wear high heels in certain jobs. But if you like to wear high heels to work, you should choose a comfortable shoe.

How do I learn to walk on high heels?

Practice creates masters! Anyone who regularly wears high heels knows that a straight back and an outstretched chest ensure that we can walk properly in high heels. The safe walk is the alpha and omega of high heels, otherwise we quickly look like we're walking on high heels with broken legs. Did you know that the big toe is responsible for walking upright? The big toe keeps our balance in the shoe - the prerequisite for this is, of course, that it only feels too constricted and accordingly has enough space.

Apart from the height, the high heels also differ in the heel. There are various types of heels - the best known are the stiletto and pfenning heels. The pfenning heels are the ones we usually walk on wobbly. So if you prefer to feel safe and rarely walk in high heels, we recommend shoes with a wider heel!
