At the invitation of HE Mr. Lee Hsien Loong, Prime Minister of Singapore, and the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS), SE Prime Minister Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha held a speech at the IISS Shangri-La Dialog on June 3, 2016 in Singapore on the occasion of the On the 50th anniversary of the Dialogue, a keynote address on security in the Asia-Pacific region. For the first time, a head of government of Thailand was invited to deliver a keynote address at the dialogue. The IISS Shangri-La Dialog is the only high-level platform for discussing security in this region, in which the international heads of government, defense ministers and high-level security officials participate.

The focus of his speech was on Thailand's perspective on the challenges in the Asia-Pacific region. Security is of great importance as the basis for prosperity and stability. Sustainable security should include the military and development dimensions.

His message was very clear: Thailand is ready to share its “Security for Development” experience and to contribute constructively to the creation of sustainable security in the Asia-Pacific region.
