Is it okay to go to meetings with the moon

Original moonstone

An original moonstone from NASA, mockups of the Apollo 11 lunar module and the moon car "Lunar Roving Vehicle" as well as space suits form the exhibition area "The Moon"

Since 2008, Europe's largest space exhibition "Apollo and Beyond" has shown other top-class exhibits in addition to the Space Shuttle BURAN in the Technik Museum Speyer. In addition, numerous high-ranking astronauts and cosmonauts visited this exhibition. The exhibition area "The Moon" adds a special highlight to the exhibition - a 3.4 billion year old moonstone. An arc is drawn from the first to the last moon landing on a simulated lunar surface. You can see, among other things, very detailed mockups of the Apollo 11 lunar module "EAGLE", the lunar car "Lunar Roving Vehicle" (LRV) which was used during the moon landings, as well as space suits like those made by the Apollo 17 astronauts Eugene A. Cernan and Harrison H. Schmitt were worn.

Original moonstone
The moonstone exhibited in the Technik Museum Speyer was chopped off on August 1, 1971 by the Apollo 15 astronauts David R. Scott and James B. Irwin from a basalt boulder in the Hadley Apennine landing area. A large panorama shows this point on the moon. After the stone came to earth from the moon, it was kept in a NASA research laboratory in Houston for almost 42 years. The Technik Museum Speyer is the only museum in Germany that exhibits an original Apollo moonstone in a detailed setting.
