What are leadership qualities?

Leadership skills often lead to associations of authoritarian bosses, an alpha animal and silverback. But the days when leadership meant clear instructions and harsh criticism are long gone. Other leadership styles have developed - away from the quick-tempered superiors who treat employees from above.

Leadership skills look different in modern companies. The team is motivated, encouraged and supported. Not just pressure from above, but through important leadership qualities and character traits that successful managers bring with them. Of course, the boss still has some authority, but this is not used as a means to an end.

But what leadership qualities do you need to work successfully as a manager? A characteristic that is often mentioned is assertiveness. But bosses won't get anywhere with that alone.

Hardly any team member thrives under these conditions, identifies with the employer and gives their best. Rather, employees look for the distance and submit the notice.
