Google Play Store on Fire Tablet: Simply install Google services afterwards
Install the Google Play Store on the Amazon Fire tablet - is that even possible? It works, and it's pretty easy. We'll show you how.
Amazon's Fire tablets are very popular because they are pretty cheap compared to other tablets. The devices are also completely sufficient for surfing or streaming films and series. However, if you want to install a lot of apps, you have reached your limits. The Fire Tablets do not run Android, but "FireOS".
This is a modification of Android that comes without the services of Google, such as the Play Store. If you want to convert the Fire Tablet into a real Android tablet, you can install the services afterwards. And that's really not that complicated. Take some time and follow our instructions.
Note: We have drawn up the following instructions to the best of our knowledge and belief. However, the implementation is expressly at your own risk. In addition, it could be that you lose your device warranty by installing the Google services.
Before you can start installing the Play Store on the Fire tablet, you have to temporarily activate the installation from unknown sources. Proceed as follows:
First open the settings on your Fire tablet.
Then scroll to the menu item "Security and data protection".
Under "Advanced" you will find the option "Apps from unknown origin".
Activate this with the slider and confirm the whole thing with "OK".
For security reasons, it is advisable to undo this option after installing the Play Store.
Now load the Google Play Store installation files on your computer and unzip the contents of the ZIP package to the desktop.
Connect your Fire tablet to the PC via a USB cable and move the four files it contains to the Fire Tablet folder "Download". After the file transfer, you disconnect the USB connection again.
Installation of the Google Play Store
Now open the "Documents" app on your Fire tablet.
Then switch to the "Local Storage" tab and tap on the "Download" folder.
In the opened folder you will find the previously copied APK files. Start installing the Play Store by first tapping on the "com.google.android.gsf.login_5.1.apk" file.
Confirm the installation with a tap on "Install".
Confirms the successful installation with "Done". Then proceed in the same way with the three other files in the following order:
"GoogleServicesFramework.apk"> "com.google.android ... apk"> "com.android.vending ... apk"
If the installation button is grayed out, i.e. cannot be clicked, switching the display off and on again can help. Many thanks to the user "Green Snow" for a tip!
Note that the installation of the third file in particular (com.google.android ... apk) can take some time. If all apps are installed, you switch the device off and on again.
If there are unexpected errors, a simple restart of the Play Store can help. If you have persistent problems, you should consider uninstalling and then reinstalling the Play Store files.
You can uninstall the apps via the following path: "Settings" -> "Apps and games" -> "Manage all apps". We had no problems on our editorial device and wish you lots of success and fun with the Play Store on your Fire tablet!
