K-pop star Yohan: Surprising death at just 28 years old

K-pop star Yohan has been found dead. The member of the South Korean band TST died at the age of only 28.

Yohan († 28) is said to have died on Tuesday (June 16) in South Korea. The label of TST, his band, confirms his death to Korean news outlets: "We are sad to deliver the most unhappy and saddest news," said a statement from KJ Music Entertainment, and continued: "Yohan's family is deeply grieving at the moment." The cause of death is apparently not yet known, also because the family is said to have asked the media out of respect to refrain from any reports and speculations about his surprising death.

Yohan, whose real name was Kim Jeong-hwan, became known as part of the NOM group in 2015. Two years later he switched to the band TST. The musicians only release their single "Countdown" in January and will be on the road for promotional purposes in the following weeks.

Fans and celebrity colleagues mourn the star, who died far too early, on the boy band's Instagram channel. South Korean singer Lee Kiseop, 29, comments under a photo of the young man on his birthday on June 15: "I love you very much, Yohan ... I miss you."
